Light Cruiser ... "Sketch A" ... November 16, 1923

Preliminary design plan for a cruiser to be built under treaty limitations covering ships of up to 10,000 tons treaty displacement. This drawing represents a design that met General Board characteristics for a ship that might be built under the Fiscal Year 1924 building program. This design was one of many considered in the process of settling on the plans adopted for the Pensacola (CL-24) class of Fiscal Year 1926. This drawing is identical to that shown in Photo # S-584-190 except that the table of data for component weights within the total normal displacement is completed in this case.
This plan provided twelve 8-inch guns, turbine machinery, and a speed of 34 knots in a ship 620 feet long on the waterline, 64 feet 10 inches in beam, and with a normal displacement of 11,500 tons.
Note: The original document was a blueprint (white on dark blue).

The original plan is in the 1911-1925 "Spring Styles Book".
