USS San Juan (ID # 1352), 1918-1919.
Originally S.S. San Juan (1904)

San Juan, a 284 gross ton steamer, was built by J.F. Duthie of Seattle, Washington, in 1904. Owned by the San Juan Packing Company, also of Seattle, she was probably used in the fishing industry and, perhaps, as a salvage ship. She was acquired (via charter) by the Navy in December 1917, placed in commission in March 1918 as USS San Juan (ID # 1352) and, during the next year, employed as a patrol vessel and minesweeper in Pacific Northwest waters. San Juan was decommissioned and returned to her owner in February 1919.

This page features all available views concerning USS San Juan (ID # 1352) and the civilian steamer San Juan of 1904.
