The Fifth Naval District included Maryland and Virginia less the D.C. and Annapolis areas, West Virginia, and coastal North Carolina. The photographs for the Fifth Naval District were in two binders.

  The Cochrane collection omitted this yard, operated by Newport News S.B. It built EC2s and then its own C2 variant. This small surface-level view shows six civilian C2-S-AJ1 freighters completing there in May 1945 of which the nearest are Elizabeth Lykes, Velma Lykes, and Reuben Tipton.
