French President Faure and Tsar Nicolas II had a state luncheon on board this ship at Kronshtadt on 26 August 1897 during which they confirmed the existence of the Franco-Russian Alliance, concluded in 1891-94. The ship's after turret was decorated for the occasion with oak and olive branches and a scroll reading "Au bord du Pothuau en rade de Cronstadt le 26 aôut 1897." (Photo: Private digital collection)

She was assigned on 6 March 1916 to take a defensive position at kilometer 33 of the canal on the east bank pointed south, with alternatives of kilometer 39.4 and a north orientation.
