Notes: Following negotiations with the Japanese in March and April 1918, the EFC contracted on 20 May 1918 with the Fujinagata Shipyard, Fujinagata, Japan, for one 6300-ton Design 1119 ship, EFC Hull 2009 and Yard No. 37. It also contracted on 16 May 1918 with the Yokohama Dockyard Co., Yokohama, Japan, for three ships of the same design, EFC Hulls 2020-2022 and Yard Nos. 55-57.

Specifications: Design 1119 (S.S. Eastern Guide, EFC Hull 2009): Steel Cargo. Deadweight tons: 6300. Dimensions: 345' length pp x 50' beam mld. x 29.1' depth mld., 23.9' draft loaded. Propulsion: 1 screw, 1 triple expansion engine, 2 Scotch boilers, 2300 IHP, 10.5 kts. Configuration: 3-island, 2 decks, 4 holds, 4 hatches.

The single ship of this design built at Fujinagata, displaying neutrality markings, probably in 1939-1941. The funnel bears the name "Maine Seaboard Paper Co." Note the small pair of derrick posts in front of the bridge.
