Notes: Following negotiations with the Japanese in March and April 1918, the EFC contracted on 20 May 1918 with the Harima Shipyard Co., Aioi, Japan, for one 5000-ton Design 1121 ship, EFC Hull 2011 and Yard No. 12. It also contracted on 15 May 1918 with the Ishikawajima Shipyard Co., Tokyo, Japan, for two ships of the same design, EFC Hulls 2012-2013 and Yard Nos. 324-325. The EFC also purchased one similar ship previously built by Harima: Yard No. 11 (Eastern King, 4824 dwt). Specifications: Design 1121 (S.S. Eastern Pilot, EFC Hull 2011): Steel Cargo. Deadweight tons: 5000 designed, 4906 actual. Dimensions: 305' length pp x 43.75' beam mld. x 27.25' depth mld., 23.25.3' draft loaded. Propulsion: 1 screw, 1 triple expansion engine, 2 Scotch boilers, 2100 IHP, 10.5 kts. Configuration: 3-island, 2 decks, 3 holds, 5 hatches. |
