Notes: Following negotiations with the Japanese in March and April 1918, the EFC contracted on 15 May 1918 with the Osaka Iron Works Co., Osaka, Japan, for four 10000-ton Design 1127 ships, EFC Hulls 2034-2037 and Yard No. 953-956. The EFC also purchased three ships previously built by this yard: Yard No. 907 (Eastport, 6695 dwt), Yard No. 915 (Eastern Star, 6699 dwt), and Yard No. 951 (Eastern Light, 10705 dwt). Specifications: Design 1127 (S.S. Eastern Knight, EFC Hull 2034): Steel Cargo. Deadweight tons: 10000 designed, 10550 actual. Dimensions: 415' length pp x 55.5' beam mld. x 34.7' depth mld., 27.6' draft loaded. Propulsion: 1 screw, 1 triple expansion engine, 3 Scotch boilers, 3000 IHP, 10 kts. Configuration: Shelter deck with 3 islands, 2 decks, 5 holds, 6 hatches.
