USS Point Bonita (ID # 3496)

The future USS Camanga (AG-42) on 22 June 1918 at the yard of her builder, the Albina Engine & Machine Works, Portland, Ore. Her rig consisted of two masts, one on the forecastle and one on the poop, and two kingpost pairs, one at each end of the amidships superstructure. This class (EFC Design 1049) had an unusually long midships island (shelter deck) and was about 50 feet longer than the numerous World War I Great Lakes cargo ships, some of which had the same rig.

USS Camanga (AG-42)

In San Francisco Bay on 30 May 1943 after an overhaul.
During her merchant service she was converted to a lumber schooner with four tall masts and a shortened shelter deck. Majaba (AG-43), of which photographs have not been located, was probably similarly modified.

USS Besboro (AG-66)

Near the Naval Station, Seattle, Washington, on 13 October 1943 soon after commissioning.
As a merchant ship she retained her original rig and long shelter deck, although the rig appears to have been strengthened for handling lumber.
