USAT Redwood

Originally the wooden-hulled cargo ship Redwood, this ship was acquired by the Army in early 1941 and was named USAT Redwood as shown here until mid-1941.
Note the neutrality markings and peacetime Army paint scheme and funnel markings.

USAT Eli D. Hoyle

The ship, which was renamed in mid-1941, is painted gray in this wartime photograph. Note the absence of armament.
