USS Peoria (1898-1922)

At the Philadelphia Navy Yard circa May 1898 completing conversion to an auxiliary gunboat for Spanish-American War duty.
Note that this former pilot boat lacks a pilot house. The receiving ship USS Richmond is behind her.

Note that her ship control gear is in the open. The receiving ship USS Richmond is on the right behind an old monitor.
