Note: AZ was one of two aircraft tender types introduced in 1920, the other being AV, Heavier-Than-Air Aircraft Tenders. The Navy's only AZ, Wright, was reconfigured and reclassified AV-1 in late 1923, and the nomenclature for the AV type was changed to Seaplane Tenders between 1935 and 1937.
