1918. Her Commanding Officer, Captain Cyrus R. Miller, is in
left center, with binoculars. To left of him are (right to left)
unidentified officer, Commander John W. Wilcox, Jr. (Executive
Officer) and Lieutenant Daniel Dowling. To the right of Capt.
Miller are (left to right) Lieutenant Commander Joseph M. Mitcheson,
Lieutenant Commander Henry J. Shields, Lieutenant Ernest A. Healy
and Lieutenant Bertie T. Larson (Medical Corps).
Note anti-splinter mats on the bridge face.

Ship's Commanding Officer, Captain Cyrus R. Miller, (center)
with his Executive Officer, Commander John W. Wilcox, Jr., and
four Army officers, while at sea en route across the Atlantic
Ocean to the United States, circa March 1919.
Captain Miller states that the Colonel at right was "Commanding
a homeward bound Ohio Regiment of Infantry. Afterwards National
Commander of the American Legion." However, he does not
provide the Colonel's name.
