USS Wakulla (ID # 3147), 1918-1919.
Originally and later S.S. Wakulla (American Freighter, 1918).

Wakulla, a 5898 gross ton (12,186 tons displacement) freighter, was completed at Los Angeles, California, in June 1918. After loading a cargo of flour she sailed for New York, where she arrived at the end of August. She then joined a Transatlantic convoy and delivered her cargo to Dublin, Ireland, at the end of September. Returning to New York in late November, Wakulla loaded supplies for the French Government and, in mid-December, sailed for Brest, France. She had to return to New York for repairs, and was only able to resume her voyage to France at the end of January 1919. Delivering her cargo at Bordeaux in February, the ship returned to New York in April with a partial cargo of Army ordnance material. Wakulla was decommissioned in April 1919 and returned to the U.S. Shipping Board. She remained in that agency's custody until sold for scrapping at Baltimore, Maryland, in 1931.
