USS Lake Gaspar (ID # 4086), 1918-1919
Previously and later S.S. Lake Gaspar (American Freighter, 1918)

Lake Gaspar, a 2331 gross ton (4600 tons displacement) freighter, was built at Lorain, Ohio, as part of the World War I emergency ship construction effort. Completed at the end of September 1918, Lake Gaspar was acquired by the Navy and commissioned on 10 October 1918 at Montreal, Quebec. She sailed in convoy to Brest, France, and then entered the Army coal trade, carrying coal from Wales to French ports. After being released by the Army, the ship departed Wales on 5 March 1919 and arrived at New York on 24 March. USS Lake Gaspar was decommissioned and returned to the Shipping Board on 31 March 1919. She was scrapped by the Ford Motor Company in 1927.

S.S. Lake Gaspar (American Freighter, 1918)

This ship served as USS Lake Gaspar (ID # 4086) from 4 October 1918 to 31 March 1919. She is shown in port, possibly when inspected by the Third Naval District on 28 March 1919 following her Navy service.
