SS Garden Mariner

Awaiting conversion to USS Compass Island (EAG 153) at the New York (Brooklyn) Navy Yard in early 1956. USS Portunus (ARC 1) is at the lower left, USS Lake Champlain (CVA 39) is in drydock at upper right, and an APL and two ATAs (one visible) are across the pier.
