USS Tulare (AKA 112)
A builder's broadside view of the ship in San Francisco Bay, probably on 8 December 1955. The builder, initially under a MARAD contract in which the Navy became involved, was the Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Corp. San Francisco yard.

The ship's after quadruped mast with its heavy lift booms, an AN/SPS-6C air search radar antenna on top, and two holds open at its base. The forward quadruped had a smaller AN/SPS-11 surface search radar antenna on top.
