Underway during acceptance trials in the Gulf of Mexico on 26 July 1988. Note that the hull side over the forward part of the main deck has been plated over, although freeing ports (slits) have been left open for drainage. This configuration was then applied to all ships of the class.

Underway during Unitas XXXI, an annual joint exercise between the U.S. Navy and the naval forces of nine South American countries, in a photo dated 1 January 1990. This ship, having been in MARAD layup since 6 May 1996, was transferred to Chile on 19 May 2009 and commissioned as their Almirante Montt on 10 February 2010.

USNS Benjamin Isherwood (T-AO 191)

At the Norfolk Ship Building and Dry Dock Corporation (NORSHIPCO) in the Elizabeth River at Norfolk, Va., on 26 August 1994 being prepared for long term storage after a plan to convert the vessel to an ammunition ship was discarded as too expensive. The ship was cancelled as an AO when 95.3% complete. The guided missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG-60) on the right is under routine overhaul at the same yard.

Photographed from the carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) on 25 September 2001 during an underway replenishment. Three refueling rigs are over to the carrier from the oiler, which has no customer to starboard. Rappahannock was one of the three double-hulled members of her class, the others being Patuxent (T-AO 201) and Laramie (T-AO 203).

In the Pacific Ocean on 6 July 2006 participating in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2006 Exercise. RIMPAC, a large biennial maritime exercise, brought together military forces from Australia, Canada, Chile, Peru, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom and the U.S.

Coming alongside the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) on 17 April 2017 for a replenishment-at-sea evolution. The carrier was conducting a tailored ship’s training availability off the coast of California.

Departing the Norfolk Naval Station on 25 May 2018 to begin an overseas deployment in support of U.S. Navy and allied forces operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. Laramie was one of the three double-hulled members of her class.
