In the Philippine Sea on 11 June 2016 after the guided-missile destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG-106) broke away from a replenishment-at-sea (wake in foreground) during a regularly scheduled 7th Fleet deployment. Rainier was placed out of service three months later as part of a force reduction.
