USNS Yukon (T-AO 152)

Probably under trials in early 1957 with the Ingalls builder's flag flying from the port yardarm. The original name prefix for this class was "USNS" (without periods) in contrast to the T2 tankers which were prefixed "U.S. Naval Ship."

The large rectangular structure in front of the funnel of this ship was added before 1963 and Yukon probably got it at about the same time. Maumee never got it.

Approaching Winter Quarters Bay in Antarctica on 31 January 1970. Her name prefix is now U.S. Naval Ship.

Underway as a U.S. Naval Ship on 4 April 1985 in Hampton Roads, Va. The colors on MSTS/MSC tankers varied widely over time and between ships.
