Bringing the 93rd "Colored" Infantry Division home from the Pacific to San Francisco in early 1946. The division occupied Morotai, Dutch New Guinea, in 1944-45, left for home from the Philippines on 17 January 1946, and arrived on 1 February 1946. The ship is wearing the peacetime stack markings of the Army Transportation Service. One of many gorgeous photos of returning warships taken by Allied Photographers of San Francisco from mid-1945 into 1946 and later acquired by Joseph Casoly.
