SS Aiken Victory

In commercial operation as a War Shipping Administration (WSA) troopship, arriving at Boston on 26 July 1945 with 1,958 troops following the end of the war in Europe. She still has her armament. The tug Neptune is assisting.

In commercial operation as a WSA or Maritime Commission troopship with her guns removed and before her inactivation in February 1947. She is wearing possible Army Transportation Service stack colors but lacks Army bow markings, indicating her civilian status.

Airman 3/C L.A. Lamoureux wrote to his family on the back of this print that he had boarded this ship on 2 August 1952. She carried him and other Air Force servicemen from San Francisco to Yokohama for duty in the Korean War.
