SS Eli Whitney (later YAG 46)
Photographed by the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II while outbound on 25 March 1943.
Portions of MARAD's Mobile Reserve Fleet moored in the Tensaw River in 1964, looking south past Gravine Island and north towards the L & N railroad bridge. Around 125 of the 253 ships then in the fleet are visible here. The fleet included three of the ten EC2-S-22a conversions, which likely were hard to distinguish from its 173 other Liberty ships.
