S.S. War Shell (ID # 1792)

The future USS Taganak (AG-45) around the time of her completion at Toledo, Ohio, in October 1917. She and her sister War Bayonet, later USS Tuluran (AG-46), were among a small group of World War I "Laker" type cargo ships specially fitted as lumber schooners with four tall masts. Their configuration was little changed when the Navy acquired them in 1942.
