Photographed on 16 July 1956 off Icy Cape, Alaska, enroute to Point Barrow. Her deck cargo includes four LCM (6) landing craft and two cylindrical storage tanks, all to support construction of the DEW Line.

At the Livorno (Italy) Port of Embarkation after having her mainmast replaced with 80-ton heavy lift gear in 1954. This facility, established in 1951 to support U.S. forces in Austria, began supporting all U.S. forces in the Southern European Region in 1955.

With her her original C1-M-AV1 cargo handling rig. The C1-M-AV1 had four holds served by 12 booms of 1.5 and 5 tons capacity plus two 30-ton heavy lift booms on the mainmast serving holds 2 and 3. The 1.5-ton booms probably served only the small refrigerated hold No. 4 aft of the superstructure.

At the New Orleans Army Terminal after having her mainmast replaced with 80-ton heavy lift gear in 1954 and after winning the MSTS "Smart Ship" award for two consecutive years. A floating crane is behind her forecastle.
