Photo contributed to NavSource by Bill Birchard, a fireman (FN) who served in DuPage in 1952-54. During this time the ship was in active status as a barracks ship at Sasebo, Japan, with an operational propulsion plant. Note the 20mm gun in the starboard bridge wing.

Photo posted by John Harrell on Facebook on 8 November 2021 of DuPage moored at the end of the street in Yokosuka that he lived on, barely 150 yards from his quarters. In 1955 the ship had been reduced to inactive status and immobilized at U.S. Fleet Activities, Yokosuka. Note that the stern configuration does not appear to match the Sasebo image, above.
